Church Planting Ministry
There has been an increased awareness of contextual work by teams and individuals working among Hindu unreached people groups in YWAM. Friends Network provides a network for YWAM teams and individuals by focusing on creating contextual Christ-centred movements within Hindu community and culture. We currently have teams in many locations across India.

Teaching on contextualisation must have a foundation of biblical teaching and examples. Friends Network is committed to live by, and to train all staff and Hindu devotees of Jesus, i.e. Yeshu Bhaktas, to begin to understand the context of the Bible, i.e. Yeshugranth, from Genesis to Revelation.

This process begins with obeying the basic commands of Christ by understanding the stories of the Yeshugranth in their context and re-contextualising them into the Hindu context. The result is the discipleship of individuals and families in small home fellowships, i.e. Yeshu Satsangs, and beginning to create multiplying Christ-centred Hindu people movements.

We are committed to redeeming, developing and encouraging the adaptation of Hindu cultural forms and meanings, including devotion, music, customs, traditions and culture by the development of redemptive analogies, stories and sacraments bringing new meaning and greater depth to the new believers faith in Jesus Christ. Some of the ways that we are experiancing the power and presence of the Holy Spirit is through the use of bhajans (traditional devotional style singing), puja (liturgical worship using signs and symbols), & contextual devotional times in Hindu style that focus on Jesus Christ.

We have only scratched the surface of relevant methods of expressing the good news in Hindu context, and contextualised discipleship models for new believers. We need many more people willing to serve, learn and share in the social, philosophical, theological and artistic areas of music, dance, drama, poetry.

Some of the particular areas that our church planting takes us into are;

Forward Community Ministries
Working with traditional caste communities (Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya) who have had no people movements and are generally not receptive to the traditional approaches of the Christian community. (i.e. Bhojpuri Brahmins, Singh, Thakur, Jaiswal, Agarwal)

Backward Community Ministries
Working with traditional semi-marginalised communities (Shudra) who have a strong Hindu identity and have had no people movements (i.e. Yadav, Jat, Ahir)

Sikh Ministries
Working with the different Sikh communities that have their roots in a Hindu reform movement, but generally do not consider themselves Hindus. They are immediately recognizable with their colourful turbans and beards.

Dalit (outcast) Community Ministries
Working with different marginalised communities. While this is not our primary focus, we do have home satsang and outreach among these communities. (i.e. Chamar, Kewat)

University Campus Ministry
Working with the intellectual classes from differen’t communities by encouraging our staff to befriend students by continuing education and involving themselves in the local university. We also have pre-evangelism ministry through film night discussion groups with students.

Education & Preschool Ministry
Working with pre-school education as a platform to community invovlement and church planting. IF you feel called to work with children join this team!

Adventure Trekking & Sports Ministry
Working with adventure trekking and prayer walking. We have also developed community based sports clubs in rural locations. Do you feel like using your sports skills to ministry in a rural community?

Widows & Marginalised Ministry
Working with widows and impoverished women through avenues of card making and other income generation projects. Do you like ‘hands on’ projects involving yourself with the poor and needy?
